Competition

The tournament will be 36 holes stroke play.  All competitors regardless of age will play the first 18 holes.  The low 24 scores and ties will play a second 18 holes the following day.  The Champion will be the low gross 36 hole score in the field.  In addition, the gross and net winners in each age category will be determined by the low scores in the first 18 hole round. 

Eligibility & Field

 ELIGIBILITY: 

This tournament is open to male amateur members of member clubs of the Maryland State Golf Association. Also, entrants must have an up-to-date USGA Index at a licensed club of 17.0 or less as of July 1, 2009 and must have reached their 55th birthday by midnight of September 16, 2009. Handicap index must be at the member club shown on the entry form, must be current on the date of the event and must be viewable on the verification site of www.msga.org. Entries may be rejected by the MSGA at any time, including during the competition. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct or failure to comply with the requirements of the handicap system. 

FIELD:  The field will be limited to 150 players and shall be composed of the first 100 entries received, with the balance of the field made up of those players having the lowest indexes of the remaining entries received on a timely basis.

Food & Beverage

Food & beverage must be paid for or charged back to players home Club.

Motorized Golf Carts

The entry fee includes cart and range balls for the first round.  Players making the cut will be required to pay the golf shop for a cart for the second round.

Prizes

The Champion’s name will be engraved on the “Warren Corkran” Cup.  Appropriate prizes will also be awarded to   other low gross and low net scorers in the 55 – 59, 60 – 64, 65 – 69, and 70 and over age groups.  In the event of a tie for the  Championship or the winner of any age category for gross score, there will be a sudden-death play-off at the conclusion of play on the appropriate day.   A tie for any other silver prize shall be resolved by the USGA recommended method outlined in Appendix I.
